CESA Wraps Up Successful Spring Season with U10 and U12 Tournament

"Thank you very much, we just finished celebrating with the boys. I'll send you some photos of what happened today. Thank you very much, thank you very much for everything you have done during this beautiful season." - Coach Donald Lopez, Coach of the White Division U10 and U12 champions.

It was a fantastic Championship Saturday at Pathways Park! The morning featured three tightly contested matches, with one decided on the game's final play.

The day's first game pitted Blake Bachman's U10 orange against Mohamed Hilowle's OYA – Gold. Three times OYA took the lead, and three times Bachman found a way to tie things up. In the final seconds, Bachman won it on a well-placed PK into the corner. It was a great game, with both teams playing well enough to win.

In the second U10 match, Erik Turocy's 9–0 black faced Team Donald. The two teams hadn't played during the regular season, and traded some chances before Donald opened the scoring. Turocy has excelled on defense all season and worked hard to keep the quick, skilled Team Donald from adding to their lead. In the end, Donald made some great shots and earned the victory against last fall's U10 champions.

The final championship game had Paul Hartje's U12 BCA lime green vs. Donald Lopez's Team Donald maroon. BCA, a team full of athletes, had the better of play for most of the first half, taking a lead that Donald matched before halftime. After the break, Team Donald quickly took the lead, adding a later penalty to extend the margin. Donald's fantastic female defensive duo worked well with their teammates to hold off repeated BCA attacks to win the U12 championship.

Congratulations to the coaches and teams for making it to the final games and playing so well throughout the spring season. Win or lose, these experiences teach the kids wonderful things. Thank you for being a big part of that.
