Why This Role?
Final Third Foundation (F3) is seeking Data Collectors to support research efforts connected to our Soccer & Literacy programs during the 2026 program year.
This role is ideal for educators, graduate students, or individuals interested in literacy research, youth development, or applied educational research.
Position Type: Part-Time | Independent Contractor
Project Overview
Final Third Foundation partners with schools to study the impact of soccer-based literacy programming on student engagement, reading development, and social-emotional growth. Data Collectors play a critical role in ensuring accurate, ethical, and consistent data collection across multiple school sites.
Position Summary
Data Collectors administer assessments, collect demographic information, and follow structured data collection protocols across partner schools.
Compensation
- $25/hour β Required training
- $25/hour β Data entry and administrative tasks
- $65/hour β On-site data collection
Responsibilities
Training & General Duties
- Complete a required 2-hour training session
- Participate in data collection at approximately 10 school sites, up to four times per year
- Support potential summer data collection
- Maintain strict confidentiality and follow research protocols
Data Collection
- Administer timed reading assessments
- Collect basic demographic information
- Record qualitative observations
- Ensure accuracy and data integrity
Logistics
- Transport materials to and from school sites and the Final Third office
- Maintain secure handling of all research materials
Qualifications
Applicants must meet one or more of the following:
- Current or former licensed teacher or school counselor
- College student in a teacher preparation or school counseling program (minimum GPA 3.5)
- Graduate or doctoral student in education, public health, or social sciences
Additional requirements:
- Recommendation from a professor or supervising teacher
- Valid BCI/FBI background check (within the past year)
- Strong attention to detail and reliability
- Comfortable administering reading assessments to young children
- Strong phonemic awareness skills
- Ability to work independently and follow detailed protocols
