Futsal is a fast-paced, indoor variation of soccer that emphasizes skill, creativity, and quick decision-making. Played on a hard court smaller than a traditional soccer field, futsal typically features five players per team (including the goalkeeper).

The smaller, heavier ball and tighter space encourage close ball control, sharp passing, and dynamic teamwork. Unlike outdoor soccer, futsal uses touchline boundaries instead of walls, and matches are played in two halves, usually 20 minutes each, with time stopped when the ball is out of play. Because of the limited space and continuous action, players are constantly involved, making it an excellent training ground for developing technical ability, agility, and tactical awareness.

Futsal is recognized by FIFA and UEFA as the official indoor version of the sport and is played worldwide at recreational, competitive, and professional levels. Many of the world’s greatest soccer players, including Pelé, Ronaldinho, Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo, credit futsal with shaping their ball mastery and creativity on the field.

Dates: November 20th -February 26th
(No training on the following dates: 11/25, 11/27, 12/23, 12/25, 12/30, 1/1, 1/20, 2/17)

Location: Linden STEM Elementary School

Registration Fees: 1 Day per week $275, 2 Days per week $350

The program will be led by Coach Rafael Fernandes de Oliveira

Coach Rafael Fernandes de Oliveira Coach Rafa has an amazing amount of experience in the world of soccer. He played professionally in Brazil, Uruguay, and Israel. Now, his primary focus is coaching and developing top-level players in Columbus, Ohio. 

Five years ago, Coach Rafa founded a futsal academy in Brazil that currently has about 100 players, and over the past four years he has been a coach with Final Third Foundation. Coach Rafa Oliveira is energetic and motivating. He loves working with children, creating a dynamic environment in which games and discoveries go hand in hand, and believes in always encouraging every player to achieve and reach their maximum performance level.
